Interesting blog post from the Daily South Southern Living. I personally haven’t seen the fashion trucks in the NYC metro area, but I believe that it’s only a matter of time. Now that food trucks and pop up shops have street cred, fashion trucks are the natural progression. This isn’t anything new either. Who remebers the blouse man and his psychedelic bus from the movie “A Walk on the Moon?” In any event, Diane Lane seemed to dig what he was selling :)

Top 10 CDs in No Particular Order Pt. 1

Jeff Buckley’s “Grace” is definitely one of my favorite CDs. “The Last Goodbye” is so bittersweet & sentimental, while “Lover, You Should’ve Come Over” has such yearning and pining. In fact, the whole CD is great from start to finish. It’s just that damn good.

before he was even signed to a record label, he had execs fighting over who’s going to sign him. What a position for an unknowen recording artist to be put in. It’s the stuff that dreams are made of!

Jeff was the son of famed folk artist Tim Buckley, who apparently had his own demons to content with. Sadly, Jeff died of an accidental drowning in New Orleans just before his CD really hit it big. What a waste of talent. Always wondering what could’ve been.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Cupcakes

Makes 24

Ingredients:

Chocolate Cake Mix (prepare and bake according to mix directions)

PEANUT BUTTER FROSTING
1 c creamy peanut butter
8 Tbsp butter room temperature
2 c powdered sugar
3-4 Tbsp heavy cream..you can use milk also..until frosting is thinned a little
2 tsp pure vanilla
Prepare Frosting Cream togather peanut butter and butter. Add vanilla. Slowly add powdered sugar. Add cream or milk to thin the frosting as desirsed.
For instructions on how to frost with the swirl, go to Xanthe Milton‘s YouTube tutorial…she’s really good!
After frosting, decorate with whatever you like, sprinkles, mini peanut butter cups, Reeses pieces. I used the crunchies from Carvel – you know, the one’s they put in the middle of their ice cream cakes. I asked for some extras the last time I bought a cake. Voila! That’s it. Guaranteed to be a hit at your next party.
**Silly obvious disclaimer. Please be aware that they do contain peanuts. If you or someone that may be eating them have a peanut allergy, then please do not serve them!

Adventures in Restaurant Week Winter 2012 – Part 2

My next adventure in NYC Restaurant Week 2012 was at Chez Josephine, located in the theatre district in midtown. Jean Claude Baker himself was there to greet you. What a very warm, welcoming and charming host he is! And the decor – ooh la la! The best way to describe it is turn of the century (last century) New Orleans bordello meets vintage Moulin Rouge. My kind of place! There’s paintings and photos of Josephine everywhere. She must have been some woman!

The food was wonderful! Coq au Vin was to die for. Most people complain about the chintzy portions at many restaurants during restaurant week, and they’re right. This place was savvy about it. While the meal portions were in fact on the small side, there was a waiter that came by with an endless supply of bread. Every time you finished your bread, it would be magically replaced immediately! I can honestly say that I did not leave feeling hungry (**cough cough Nobu**).

Visiting restaurants during Restaurant week is a wonderful way to try new restaurants or places that you normally wouldn’t consider because of the price, cuisine, etc… This is one of the many fine NYC restaurants that I’ve always wanted to try ans I’m glad I did. It wasn’t disappointing and I would definitely go again…restaurant week or not!

Lip Smackers + Girl Scout Cookies = Total Brilliance!

Yahoo Shine reports that Lip Smacker knows the way to our hearts. The Girl Scout Cookie lip balm collection represents five of our favorite tasty treats: Thin Mints, Trefoils, Chocolate Peanut Butter (Tagalongs), Peanut Butter (Do-si-dos), and Coconut Caramel Stripes (Samoas).

These lip balms taste and smell just as scrumptious as the cookies. Thankfully they’re hydrating too. Buy them individually or get all five in a set for $5 at Wal-Mart and Claire’s stores. Come 2012 they’ll be available in the liquid lip gloss version too. I can’t wait to enjoy my Trefoils all year round!

I know that it’s still Winter and it seems early, but as far as I’m concerned, it’s never too early to think about my summer wardrobe. I finally broke down and ordered them today – check it out here. They’re so fab!!!!
