My adventures in Restaurant Week Winter 2012 began last night at Chinatown Brasserie. Located in NoHo in the middle of trendy shops (and Billy’s Bakery, which I of course made a pit stop at), the restaurant was beautifully decorated and offered a wonderful prix fixe selection. Since we got there a lttle early and had to wait a few minutes, I got a glass of wine (happy hour menu priced) and took the opportunity to look around.
Downstairs, they had a glass-encased stairway leading down to a wrap around koi pond, and a great big party room. Upstairs, they had the main dining room, bar and private dining rooms. The interior decorating was felt like a mix of old China meets hipster downtown NYC. Absolutely gorgeous!!
For $35, you got to select dim sum appetizers, a main course and dessert. Speaking of dessert, the little custard buns were to die for!!! Everything was wonderful and the service was great! Would highly recommend this place for a nice family dinner, a romantic date or a show-off place to take out-of-town guests to.
Stay tuned for next chapter of “Adventures in Restaurant Week.”
